Dear World,

We are so sorry. Tonight, there is nothing but heartache under this roof. Hugh and I simply can’t believe that so many voted for a candidate who openly embodied hatred, racism, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, and ignorance — regressive ideas that don’t belong anywhere near this century, let alone a Constitution founded on the ideals of the Enlightenment.

The only comfort I find is in the passionate compassion of our fellow citizens who’ve put their lives and livelihoods on the line to make sure that every person in this country has a right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

We’ll carry on and keep fighting the good fight.
