River Otters at Play – San Francisco Bay Area

A Christmas Eve encounter with river otters … a wonderful antidote to the holiday blues we were feeling this year. I shot this footage as the sun set on the Pacific, and the fiery pinks and yellows cast some last light on the otters.

As always, photographed from a respectful distance with telephoto lens, in this case, my m.zuiko 100-400mm (with an effective 800mm reach). The otter running is not running from me and my camera. He or she was hustling to join the huddle in the water after taking a short otter break on the bank.
