:: About Me

Unless otherwise noted, all photos are taken of wild animals in their natural habitats. The well-being of the animals I photograph takes precedence over any photo -- and I adhere to my own set of strict wildlife photography ethics, using the North American Nature Photography guidelines as a model.

I shoot with a 600mm lens (35mm equivalent, four thirds system). I do not bait nor stage photos, and I do my best not to otherwise disturb the animals' natural behavior. I do occasionally take photos near bird feeders, although at present, I'm in an urban setting without a garden and without any bird feeders of my own.

Occasionally, I'll have the opportunity to photograph animals in a sanctuary or rehabilitation facility -- either recovering from injury or living as unreleasable exhibition animals because of health issues. If the animal is captive in such a setting, I will always add "captive" to the photo description. I will only shoot images in situations where, to the best of my knowledge, the animals are treated humanely and with the highest standards of wildlife ethics. And under no circumstances will I knowingly patronize a facility that sells animals to game farms, hunting establishments, or engages in any other dubious practices.
